Message from Judy, KLC Preschool Teacher

Dear Parents,

Thank you for choosing KLC preschool. I enjoy having your child in my class. I strive to make the environment friendly and fun. I wanted to write this post so you can know more about what your child is learning and doing this year.

Our main goals are to introduce:
-How a classroom functions;
-Social Skills that will help them throughout their lives
-Prepare them for transition to Kindergarden

We begin our day with breakfast and free play. At 8:00 we start class with circle time, which consists of songs, discussion about out Theme for the Week, which includes: a Shape, Color, Number, Word, Letter and Nursery Rhyme.

I have a chart posted in the room with the week's theme and we review our number, letter, color, shape and the calendar.

We then put on music and stretch, dance and march. Afterwards we go to the round tables to color pictures or trace based on theme for the week.

As the children finish their work they can choose to read a book or color some more. After snack time the children then choose a Center to work in.  Our centers include: dress-up area, painting, reading/listening, blocks, legos, writing area with dry erase board, magnets and stickers and the sand table.

While the children work at the centers. I take a couple of children and we work together on an art project that relates to our week's theme.  Afterwards (weather permitting) we go outside and play. Then story time and a review of our weekly theme.  Each child receives a sticker at the end and we have reading time and lunch.

Shortly, I will post our weekly themes for the rest of the year. If you have ideas about information or posts you would like in the future please let us know.

Also be sure to sign up for the RSS feed to get notices when we have made new posts.

Thank you,

Judy.
